Molise is one of the smallest regions in Italy and its territory consists mostly of mountains and plateaus. The vineyards are mainly located along the coast, in particular near Campomarino, Larino, Ururi, in the province of Campobasso. In the mountainous province of Isernia, viticulture has almost disappeared, but nowadays, not far from the little town of Isernia, of Sannite origins, a limited amount of white and red wines is being produced. The wine tourist can find in Molise intact natural landscapes, mountain trails for pleasant excursions, ancient villages.

Campomarino is, like Termoli, is an important seaside resort and is also one of the four towns in Molise, of Albanian origins, with Montecilfone, Portocannone and Ururi. The beautiful Romanesque church of Santa Maria a Mare was built between the twelfth and the thirtenth centuries. The fifteenth-century fresco in the crypt, depicts San Nicola and San Demetrio, the latter fighting against a Turk. In Ururi, on the 3rd of May, during the festival of the Santo Legno della Croce, the Carrese takes place, with ox-carts racing for about 4 kilometers.

Larino is one of the most interesting towns in Molise, with impressive archeological remains. The Roman amphitheater dates back to the first century B.C. It was elliptic in shape, with four entrance doors at the end of the two axes and twelve gates of access to the terraces. During the Middle Ages, the inhabitants of Larino transformed it into a bastion of defense. The Cathedral, located in the city center and consecrated in 1319, was built in Romanesque-Gothic style, on the site of an ancient structure. Its Gothic portal, attributed to Francesco Petrini from Lanciano, is considered one of the most beautiful monuments in Molise. In the interior, the cathedral is adorned with frescoes of the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. There is also a painting of the Immaculate Conception, attributed to the famous painter Solimena. Viticulture in Molise is influenced by the nearby regions of Abruzzo and Campania, with the trebbiano and montepulciano grapes from Abruzzo and the greco and falanghina vine varieties from Campania. In recent years, the tintilia, a native red berry grape variety, has been rediscovered by the wine producers of Molise.
