The present varieties of vineyards resulted from a long and tenacious work of a Commission, that at the end of the last century established what vines’ kinds had to be planted according to their characteristics. Due to the vicinity of Rome, its height ( average 4-500 mts on sea level ), richness of chestnut forest and good wines Roman Castles have always been a good location for day excursions, short stays or summer holidays for the romans, in fact in Castelgandolfo you still find the Summer Residence of the Pope !  Often romans and not only them come to enjoy the local family run-restaurants or as tradition they come with their home cooked food and buy the wine sold by local cellars ending – according to season – with a typical strawberry cup with ice cream;  several activities can be done on the lakes and
