The Feast of Cherries is a popular tradition in homage to the more typical fruit of Brda (Slovenia), handed down by generations of farmers. It will begin on 27 of May in Smartno (San Martino), a medieval town in the center of the region, and will continue on 28 and 29 of May with cultural events, live music, art exhibitions and a local market with typical products and fruits. And, of course, a lot of cherries. On 4 of June there will be the "Bike Marathon cherries" from Ljubljana to Dobrovo, followed in the evening by the election of the Queen of cherries and a musical concert. The fifth of the wine estates will open their cellars in the streets of Dobrovo. And  Sunday 12 of June there will be the traditional parade of floats (15 in all), representing 15 village communities and suggesting a theme related to rural life. Info www.slovenia.info
